fuck off
Stupid Parents.
Won’t let me drive home, because I had ONE Strongbow SIX hours ago!! I would normally only wait double that amount of time, if i’d had 20 pints!
It’s ridiculous!
I was only staying in Eastleigh because we were meant to be going out tonight. Then Holly didn’t feel well. I should have gone home then! Instead of waiting for Mum to come home!

I am doing it.
I don’t know what I was thinking when I signed up.
I’ve decided to polish a turd I wrote earlier in the year, then continue to crap on it some more, to see if I can make it into something half decent.
It’s currently titled “Connection”.
I don’t know how it got that name, or even if it will keep that name.
That is all.
It has been, but I refused to title it that
…been a long time, is what I mean, of course.
I’m pretty sure there’s probably already three posts titled that on my blog from every time I had a lull in writing, then coming back weeks later.
I don’t really know what I’m going to say.
I just realised it had been 3 weeks since the last post, and that Twitter had been fulfilling my blogging needs of late, and that a real blog was not needed.
But not everyone who reads my blog, also follow me on other social networks.
So what’s new, I guess you want to know.
Well, been back to uni 4 weeks now. Settled back into my old ways of not fitting in with anyone other than my two friends who also don’t particularly want to work with me either, but still hang around before, inbetween and after lectures for a while.
Have finally started work on our major dissertation project. It’s a practical unit. Made up of 30% theoretical paperwork to accompany the 60% thing we actually produce and a 10% post production peer assessment. Our group is made up of all the rejects from the course. I’m not even lying.
I got myself a radio show on Southampton Solent University’s newly rebranded Student Radio Station, Radio Sonar (.co.uk) I’m on between 12:30 and 2pm on Tuesday’s. Going well so far. Am a lot more free with what I can play while I’m on air. Last year it was playlist only, with a max of 2 tracks per hour of your own choice. Now it’s as much as you want, as long as you play what’s in the playlist as well, which is only abouty 5 or 6 songs that no one has really heard of.
Become a fan of my show on Facebook, even though you haven’t heard me yet, by clicking here. Or you can follow me on Twitter by clicking here, although my most recent update is in the (fairly) top right hand corner.
What else. Oh yeah, I joined a gym. With Sarah and Sophie. Actually, we haven’t been in a while, because of finding a time all three of us are together long enough. Definately noticing a difference in the last four weeks using the equipment. Can’t say I see it when looking in the mirror or trying on clothes though.
I got myself another job. In the same pub as Sarah. Only done 10 hrs so far, but enjoying it. It’s so different to Tesco. Completely different atmosphere and pace.
Accidentally got myself a 3rdish job, too. Talking to my nextdoor but 1 neighbour, who told me he’d just taken over the bar and kitchen of a local sports ground and function room thing, so when he knew I am bar trained (read: Will be fairly competent in a few weeks) he said he wanted to put me on his books, so when there are functions over the weekends and holidays etc, he can call on me, should he need to.
Well, so much for not knowing what to write. It’s 1am, so I am off to bed.
Until next time my lovlies…
Tell me I’m not wrong
Right now, I’m in a fairly bad mood. And here’s why.
Energy consumption within our house.
I can see this leading to a heated debate (no pun intended, although it was a good one) but I just need to get it out of my system.
Here’s some back-story:
Housemate1 was due to start work this morning at 5:30am. Housemate 2 was working late last night and didn’t get in until around 2am. Housemate 3 (that’s me!) went to bed at a decent time, but had no plans for the best part of this morning, so arranged with himself to spend most of it in bed*.
Housemate1 got up ready and left for work by what I can only imagine was about 5am. 5 hours later, when housemate3 (that’s me!) got up, he was to find the living room, kitchen and bathroom light and the electric heater in the bathroom left on.
By the power of housemate3′s brain, the fact that housemate2 was likely to be sleeping into the early-afternoon, lead him to the conclusion that housemate2 had left these electrical items on during her getting ready process FIVE HOURS previous.
Now I don’t know about you, but I earn £70 a week from a part-time job, I get the bare minimum in re-payable university loan, and have been living out of my overdraft for the best part of a 2 years. And when someone is in that financial situation, the last thing you want is an unnecessarily large electricity bill at the end of the month, on top of the £300 in rent and bills you are already failing to keep up with!
—————
Quick Poll: You have been at work all evening. When you return home, the living room light and the television are on, but upon entering the room, you find that there is no one in the room, and eventually discover that the last person to be in the room had in fact gone to bed 20 minutes ago. Do you:
A, think “Oh cool, PersonA left the TV on for me” ?
B, think “Where is everyone? Why is the TV on when no one is watching it? What a waste of electricity!” ?
or C, continue with what you were doing, paying no attention to anything around you?
If it’s not B, you need to be shot.
Quick Poll 2: You are in a room, it’s dark outside, but you have the light on. You decide to go into another room, with no plans to return to the first room. Do you:
A, leave the light on, someone else can turn it off
or B, turn the light off, because it’s a waste of electricity as no one else is using it.
Again, if it’s not B, you need to be shot.

Energy Saving Light Bulbs
Recently, I was given a “reason” for why a light was left on, with the light-leaver-oner accepting no responsibility of electricity wasting. It was “because it’s an energy saving light bulb”. So I thought I would post a few notes on the energy saving light bulb.
Everyone has heard that an energy saving light bulb can save up to £60 in electricity over it’s lifetime!
“Wow!” You might think…
But let’s break that down.
Energy Saving Light Bulbs can last up to TWELVE YEARS. Yes, Twelve. That means an “energy saving” light bulb saves you just £5 a year on your electricity bill. FIVE POUNDS.
Now, I know what you’re going to say now.. “An average household wont just swap one light bulb, they’ll change most, if not all of their bulbs!”
Okay, so in our house, we have lights in our:
- Hallway x2
- Bedrooms x 3
- Living room
- Kitchen
- Bathroom
- Lamp in living room.
The bathroom is a fluorescent bulb and is enclosed in a unit, but all the others are energy saving bulbs. So, eight bulbs.
Eight times five equals forty. So we save just £40 a year in electricity.
We pay our bills quarterly (every 3 months) which means our bills should be £10 less every time because of the energy saving light bulbs (have I said this phrase enough yet?) But because millions of people across the globe use the mentality that “it uses less energy, therefore it’s okay to use it more”, bills are never likely to drop!
Basically, I boils down to this: Using an energy saving light bulb HELPS you save money, but ONLY if you HELP YOURSELF save money!

I haven’t even started on the electric heaters!
I don’t have much to say about them. Apart from DON’T USE THEM!!
Our house doesn’t have central heating. Instead, in the three bedrooms, living room and bathroom, there is an electric heater. They use a CONSIDERABLE amount of electricity! A MASSIVE amount! FOOKING LOADS! However you want to put it, they are so expensive to run, I am considering disconnecting them from the sockets to eliminate even the temptation of using them on a particularly cold night.
—————
Now, I think I’ve said enough on the subject. All I have left to say is, next time you’re leaving a light on in a room which you have left empty, think about turning it off, otherwise I’ll have to post yet another ranting and bitching blog about energy-wasters. And nobody wants that now, do they!?
*[Edit: No, I wasn't playing with myself!]
Thank you Cissy..
Yes, it would appear it has been a whole 31 days since I last blogged.
But, you see, if you follow me on twitter (on the right, is a little box with my latest tweet) you will know that I haven’t been inactive for the whole 31 days. Far from it, in fact.
But I seem to prefer the micro-blogging feature Twitter offers me.
Also, it was Summer, and had better things to do with my life than sit on my computer and blog every day.
For example, I worked at least 18 hours a week. And when I wasn’t asleep, I would sit on my computer on Facebook, in particular, an application called FarmVille.
I has somewhat taken over my life the last month or so. It’s SO addictive!
But enough about that. I would like to assure you that now that I have started my third and (hopefully) final year of university, I will probably blog a lot more about my problems and the challenges I face.
Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!
Nature Vs Nurture?
Discuss.
Love Galaxy, Love Music.. Live!
So last night I went to Galaxy FM’s Love Music Live, at Oceana, Southampton.
Went with Holly, Zoe, Dani, Scott and Sophie (And bumped into Simon and Sian, so stuck with them too)
JLS, Tinchy Stryder, Alesha Dixon, Taio Cruz and Booty Luv all performed.
It was A-to-the-Mazo’s.
Taio pulled out at the last minute with illness. But that didn’t stop the good times from rolling!
Check my facebook for Pictures and a video (When it uploads!)
Didn’t meet anyone famous, but Galaxy djs past and present were there in full force. Zoe, Gillies and Sparky from Breakfast, Adam Inker from Afternoons, Ben ‘Drivetime’ Glover, Former mid-mornings and current show cover-er Katie Mattin, and another show cover-er Gavin Inskip and newsreader Ollie Yates all mingling with fans!
TMI / Overheard
Two friends on a bench: “Yeah, well my ex-girlfriend slept with my Dad! Then told me! She also said I was bigger than he is!”
Forever and a day
Yesterday marked the eighth year of me living on the South Coast.
We also went to Brighton Pride, where it rained, and rained, and rained, pretty much the whole day. Then today has been the nicest day all week! Sunny and everything!
All in all, this weekend has been pretty damn amazing. The temporarily-expanded power 11 are the sex.
Going down
And, sadly, not like that.
But Freddie Stroma is moving further down my page as I post yet another blog. But oh well, all is fair in love and war, not that I kn0w how that’s relevant to this post.. shall I get on with it?
Yesterday, I performed some Derren Brown magic on myself.
I was woken up to “I gotta feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas. Their opening verse is as follows:
I gotta feeling,
that tonight’s gunna be a good night,
that tonight’s gunna be a good night,
that tonight’s gunna be a good good night,
And I managed to perform Derren Brown mind-trickery on myself so that once I heard that same song being played out in the club last night, I would be in the mood for a good night.
And, low and behold, there I was, 3 pints down, feeling way too sober to be in a gay club, only foot tapping along to the music, avoiding eye contact, and generally being shy and withdrawn.
‘I gotta feeling’ started playing and something in my mind clicked. It is without a doubt in my top 3 favourite songs right now, and I couldn’t stop myself from dancing to it.
What made it even better was that Holly and Paul didn’t really know the song, so they became the self-aware ones, watching me and everyone else getting down to the beat.
And from then on, we had an amazing time! Good times!
