I like it

When old characters come back into Soaps.

[But firstly, I would like to apologise for the previous 2 posts. I don't know what came over me.]

Like Libby, Darren and Ben in Neighbours. And  Ricky, Bianca and Janine in EastEnders. I don’t know why. But I do.

Yesterday at work, Dave [a current employee] and Dave [an ex-employee] were talking about the old skool dayz.. when they first started, like six years ago, when they about the same age as me. I had only been living in Eastleigh not even a year back then, and I wasn’t allowed 2 blocks away then, let alone all the way into Eastleigh [It was like 6 minutes away by foot], and it made me remember when I first started – even though it was only 2 and a half years ago. But so many people have left, its completely different now to what it is now.

There was Lauren, Lewis, Alex, Dave, Kirsty, Holly, Daniella, Jason, Kyle, Jason H, and so many more.

There was no Ben, Chris, Sarah, Michelle, Frank and Tom on checkouts, no Shona and Tracy on the Direct Desk.

I know these are all just names to you, but they mean things to me. And I don’t really know what I’m saying? Do I enjoy it more now than back in the beginning?

Sometimes I wish you could do a soap and bring back old people. I would love it if for one more Wednesday night, Lewis, Lauren, Jade, Dave and I ran the place. But where would I be? Back then it was just a checkout, now, it’s Kiosk, Customer Services, or Team Leader. It would be weird, of course, wherever I was.

Because in soaps, the actor just hangs up their costume and goes home to their family and watches themselves on TV. All the people who have left Tesco have moved on, and away. They can’t just turn they’re lives off and come back to work with me.

Sometimes I wonder, if they ever are sat down, or in bed, or wherever, and they remember the old days, however “new” they actually are – compared to some older days.

I can go back even more, to Toynbee. And how I belonged to several different friendship groups. But I wont, because it’s half one and I need lunch before Neighbours starts.

Maybe someone will come back from the past again. I don’t think so, though, because I am a Neighbours freak, and i’d know about it.
